4e, 3e and Premiere pupils studying Russian spent 4 days in Tallinn (Estonia) and 1 day in Helsinki (Finland) with their teachers, Mrs Antonenko and Mrs Vitores.
They had guided tours to see the Old and Modern parts of the cities that are connected with the history of the Russian Empire. They visited the KGB museum in Viru Hotel in Tallinn, where they learned about the technologies used for spying in the Soviet times. They made Russian traditional Vareniki and then ate them cooked with borscht and pancakes. They went to the Russian Museum, where they had tea (made in a Russian samovar) with sushki (Russian bread rings). They visited a Russian School in Tallinn where they spent half of the day, and our pupils made friends with the Russian-speaking pupils and exchanged contacts with them. They participated in their dance break, which our pupils really enjoyed. Our pupils made a fantastic presentation of the Lycée, using the website and the promotional video of the Lycée.
They visited the newspaper Postimees where they met with their journalists and editor-in-chief, Sergei Metlev. Our pupils saw how the journalists make news and monitor news. They visited Peter the Great's house and saw how the Russian tsar lived in Estonia. After that, they went to the skating rink where our pupils enjoyed ice-skating in chilly and snowy weather. Finally, they went to the Museum of Occupation Vabamu where they learned about the sad part of the history of Estonia under the Soviet occupation.
