UK Parliament Week 2023

UK Parliament Week 2023

Get involved and have your voices heard!

In November, the Lycee was happy and honoured to welcome Lord Hannay of Chiswick GCMG who gave an amazing and inspiring talk to our students - Mr Anderson’s Politics & Government TAL, Ms Crookston’s 1ere AMC and Ms Suzanne’s 1e5 English class - sharing his knowledge and views on international relations as a British diplomat and member of the House of Lords.

It brought Parliament to life for our students and helped them develop a better understanding of the work of the House of Lords and the whole process of democracy.
A really positive and enriching experience which will encourage our students to become more active citizens and engage with Parliament and democracy.

On 'Election Day', 80 sixième pupils put a cross on their ballot papers and voted for the best projects they wish to submit to their MP. Following their lessons on UK Parliament in Mrs Derckel, McAllister and Suzanne’s English classes, pupils presented the projects they had worked on, raising issues, sharing ideas and suggestions to make changes.

This was an amazing experience for the pupils to develop their speaking skills and become more confident speakers. Well done!
