To celebrate the arrival of summer after a long winter, the CM2a class (South Kensington primaire) wrote summer solstice poems using personification with Ms Warren.
We hope you enjoy reading them, and we wish everyone a WONDERFUL SUMMER HOLIDAY!
Summer solstice - By Mitra A.
Finally, summer is here!
The sun laughs at the rain
As the sky begins to clear
And the clouds disappear again.
The cold bows down to the warmth
Whilst the people start to smile
As the gentle breeze dances forth
And the sun stays awake for a while.
The Longest Day - By Eva C.
It’s far too early to get out of bed
I want to rest my sleepy head
But up I must rise to switch on the light
For the longest day and the shortest night
Oh! Summer solstice you make me work so much
The life of the centre of the solar system is really tough
But the northern hemisphere will be so happy
To spend so many hours with me!
Summer Solstice Poem - by Benjamin C.
The sun gazes down below at the street,
As its joyful rays bring lots of heat.
The sun chases us as we head to the beach
So, we run for the protection of any shadow we can reach.
The wind starts to whistle making the sand dance,
The waves begin to look angry and ready to prance.
On this day the sun gives us permission to stay up late
The summer solstice, our favourite date!
