British Section Assembly

British Section Assembly

Assemblies are a common feature in British schools. The British Section of the Lycée Français Charles de Gaulle de Londres is no exception to the rule. And after many months of restrictions for such events, it is a pleasure to see our pupils share their achievements and projects in the Salle Iselin again!

The session starts with awards for academic, sport, behaviour and extracurricular successes or progress. Early last month, PAL and TAL students received certificates for their outstanding results in various national science contests (e.g. Top gold award in the Physics Olympiad), as well as in sports, with some of them even being part of Team GB (e.g. in fencing)!

Following the award ceremony, a small group then presents a topic of their choice. Prepared as a group during tutor’s time, under the supervision of their tutor and with PSHE (Personal Social Health Economic) education as an underlying theme, the projects can be very diverse. Last month, students introduced the subject of personal finance, particularly with the prospect of further education and of financing university studies.

These assemblies give pupils and tutors, as well as the pastoral care and management teams, a nice opportunity to celebrate the specificity of the British Section within the Lycée while strengthening a sense of belonging and an uplifting community spirit.
